Unless you’re a seasoned world class traveler, after being on a long flight you probably look less than glamorous; or is that just us? Sometimes it doesn’t matter; like if you’re flying to Fiji for a care free week in the sand & sun. But for those times you have to go from the runway to the board room, you’ll want to use these tips to keep you looking fresh and fabulous.
Prepare for Take Off. Take a shower and blow dry your hair as close to your departure time as possible. The more recently you’ve showered and fixed your hair, the easier it will be to look good after a long flight.
Hello, Hydration! The air on planes is extremely dry, so it’s beyond essential that you stay hydrated. Sipping on H2O is a must as is using lip balm and moisturizer often. For an added refreshing, hydrating boost try using a face spray like this one or even an eye cream to perk up your peepers.
Catch Some Z’s. We know, sleeping on an air plane is easier said than done. But, getting a good dose of sleep the best was to put some pep into your appearance. If you have to use an eye mask and earplugs so that you wake up feeling (and looking) refreshed.
Get a Move On. We’re not going to pretend that air line seats are comfortable, they’re not. Don’t force yourself to stay put the entire flight, especially if it’s excruciatingly long. As long as it’s safe to move about the cabin, get up and have a quick stretch.
Wrinkle Free is the Way to be. Wear comfortable, wrinkle resistant clothes. The easiest way to look put together during and after travel: clothes that don’t wrinkle. Nothing says, “I just got off a plane,” like a crumpled shirt and a creased skirt. There are plenty of wrinkle-resistant, non-iron clothes out there. Trust us, this is probably isn’t the best time to debut your new silk top or linen pants, no matter how fab you feel in them.
Avoid mascara. This doesn’t work for everyone, but if you feel comfortable going without mascara for the flight it’s highly recommend it. It’s an easy way to avoid the raccoon look on a red-eye. You can always apply post flight if needed.
Freshen up upon arrival. Pack basic carry-on approved toiletries in your purse. Think quick fix items like hairbrush, tinted moisturizer, perfume, mascara, a toothbrush or bobby pins. Once you land, head to the ladies’ room to repair any damage that may have occurred during the flight.
